Circus Sundays

On Sundays, there is a lot to do and experience for the whole family. Here is an example.

At 10 A.M., the museum opens its doors, and have you bought your ticket online, you need to show it at the ticket counter in the shop. In our shop, it’s also possible to buy snacks, beverages, toast, ice cream.

In our exhibition, you can, among other things, watch many different videos about the circus, starring ventriloquist Peter Nørgaard and his mischevious dog Charlie. You can see extravagant and beautiful circus costumes and old circus props. The children can bring a little treasure hunt og task with them throughout the exhibition as well, and receive a prize in our shop, when the task is completed.

Between 10.30 A.M. and 12.00 A.M., we open the doors to our circus training venue, “Fægtesalen”, where we invite you to Circus Fun. It takes place in the grand, old garrison church, located behind the museum building. There, you will meet a professional circus artist, who can guide and inspire you to try the flying trapeze, learn how to juggle or give tight-rope walking a chance, for example. Entry to Circus Fun is included in the entrance ticket for the Circus Museum.

After Circus Fun has closed its doors, you can come back to the museum and go to the second floor, to our Creative Workshop. There, you can enjoy food and drink of your own, perhaps combined with beverages and snacks from the museum shop. In the workshop, you can release your creative imagination and make a clown hat or a circus collage. The materials in the workshop are free to use for all guests.

If you need to practice your juggling a bit more, the museum also has a play area on the bottom floor with an assortment of juggling props, clothes for dress-up, and read old circus programmes. In the museum shop you can purchase a wide range of items for performances and souvenirs aimed at both kids and adults.
