Other things to do

The museum is located in the old barracks called Avedørelejren, which was built in 1911-1913. Today Avedørelejren is a dynamic area with a mix of business, residential housing and culture. Among the latter is the frontrunner in the Danish film industry called Zentropa. If you take a 15 minute stroll from the museum you can find the old fortification that surrounded Copenhagen and was in use during WWI, although the war never came to Denmark.

You can borrow a stroller at the reception for free.

In Avedørelejren you can eat at Cafe Bataillionen, which is open Monday-Friday from 8am-2.30pm. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch to the museum and eat it in our lunch room or have a picnic in the museum’s green surroundings.

The hostel Belægningen offers nice and affordable rooms with everything from a single bed with en suite bathroom to bunk beds. The hostel is located 100 metres from the museum and with easy access to the center of Copenhagen by public bus or S-train. Hotel Scandic is located two kilometres from the museum.
